Consultation fees

Please refer to the fee table below for consultation fees. If you're not eligible for funded health services in New Zealand, the cost of a consultation is $89. (See eligibility criteria below)

Community Services Card (CSC) Verification – We’ll validate your CSC details against your NHI number. If your card is expired, invalid, or can’t be verified, the standard consultation fee will be charged. We’ll contact you if more information or additional payment is needed prior to your consultation.

Note: Your mobile or internet provider may charge for data usage during the consultation.

Eligibility for subsidised telehealth consults

To receive a funded telehealth consultation through The Doctors Online, you must meet specific eligibility criteria. You may be eligible if you are:

• A New Zealand citizen
• A New Zealand permanent resident or resident visa holder
• A person who holds a work visa (or a series of work visas) that allow you to stay in New Zealand for two years or more
• A refugee or protected person, or in the process of applying for refugee or protection status
• A child under 18 years of age who is lawfully in New Zealand and has a parent or guardian who meets eligibility criteria
• A person covered under certain special agreements (e.g., Australian citizens or residents who meet specific conditions)

You may be asked to provide proof of your eligibility when you use our service.

Information sharing

We share your consult details with Health NZ for funding, service evaluation, and system planning. This includes your NHI, basic demographics, appointment info, and diagnosis code. To opt out, tell your doctor or email us. For more information on what Health NZ collects and how it is used, see the Health NZ Privacy Statement.

When you book an appointment, you can easily pay securely online with a credit or debit card. Please note that any additional services, such as post-consult tests, blood work, medications, or follow-up medical investigations, may incur separate charges from other providers. The Doctors Online consultation fees do not cover pharmacy-related costs, such as script fees.
